EMG (Electromyogram) is the electrical testing of nerves
and muscles.
An EMG is an in-office procedure and
does not require hospitalization. On average,
an EMG takes approximately 30 minutes to 2 hours,
depending on the test ordered
by your physician. EMGs are usually
ordered when patients are having problems with their
muscles or nerves. When the nerves and muscles of
the body' s
extremities are tested, abnormalities can be detected.
