The first of its kind in a five-hospital radius, the Center for Joint
Replacement (TCJR) offers patients undergoing joint replacement surgery
a specialized unit for their treatment and care from pre-operation (pre-op)
to discharge.
A primary goal of TCJR is to ensure that patients at the Center have
a positive experience from their first visit in the clinic through surgery,
recovery and discharge. The Center allows for a coordinated care plan
for patients to improve their outcome through sharing their experiences
with other patients experiencing the same things. At TJCR, joint replacement
patients will be able to go to therapy together, eat together and attend
educational sessions together. The entire program is based on group
dynamics.
The Center for Joint Replacement offers patients
extensive pre-op education prior to the surgery.
After receiving the guidebook, patients
and their coaches (who may be someone they' ve chosen to lend support)
are invited to attend educational classes taught by the
joint team care coordinator.
Personnel staffing the new center are experienced in joint replacement
care and work with patients through a coordinated approach with the
entire Joint Team aggressively working on therapies and education in
the hopes of a quicker recovery for the joint patient.

Co-Medical Directors of the Center
are Charles L. Cole Jr., M.D. and Thomas Dominick,
M.D., of the SUN Orthopaedic Group. For more information,
