Food Services Department
A healthy eating plan is a great first step in feeling better. At Shamokin Area Community Hospital (SACH), the food service department strives to provide quality nutritious meals and nourishment to patients in an effort to brighten spirits as well as taste buds as they embark on the lifestyle of healthier living.

SACH food service employees take pride in serving homemade or onsite prepared meals and accommodate patients' food preferences, allergies and therapeutic needs.

The food service department focuses on customer service, which is highlighted through catering of hospital-sponsored meetings, various organization dinners/meetings (such as Alzheimer' s and diabetic support groups and Relay for Life) and employee appreciation events.

Serving thousands of people who travel through the hospital each month (patients as well as their families), food services is dedicated to healthy eating and helping others. Daily hours of operation of the food service department are 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Dietitian Services
The registered dietitian at SACH assures that patients' nutritional needs are being met through adequate menus and nutrition support. Nutritional assessments are completed on all patients admitted to TCU and any in-patient who is triggered to be at nutritional risk. The dietician recommends therapeutic diets and nutritional supplements, coordinates patient care with health team members, attends patient care plan meetings, performs discharge diet restrictions, counsels out patients, monitors food service production and patient meal satisfaction and serves on various hospital committees.
