Diagnostic Imaging
Since 1998,
Shamokin Area Community Hospital' s
(SACH) Imaging Services Department (Radiology) has
made numerous technological upgrades
to meet the needs of the community.
The department remains on the cutting edge of modern technology, currently
offering up different modalities such as a general diagnostic X-Ray
imaging, ultrasound, a mobile MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) unit
mammography, bone densitometry, CT scans, and nuclear.

All modalities, except mammography and bone
density, are connected to the hospital' s Picture Archiving and
Communication System (PACS), which utilizes digital
technology.
With the addition of PACS technology, films are no longer needed for
these specified screens, which create a more efficient way for physicians
to view /images and reports. The potential of lost films is no longer
even an issue at SACH due to the new system that now stores /images digitally.
Furthermore, /images can now be put on CD-ROMS for patients to take to
other specialists and facilities instead of films.
The staff members of the imaging services department are all trained,
certified, and licensed in their respective imaging fields. |
