Every day countless
people of all ages experience health problems or injuries
that significantly affect their ability to manage their
daily lives. With the help of occupational therapy (OT),
many of these individuals can achieve or regain a high
level of independence. When skill or strength cannot
be developed or improved, OT offers creative solutions
and resources for carrying out the person's daily tasks.
OT
goals include:
- promoting independence by regaining
functions in daily activities
- preventing further
disability or deformities
- maintaining wellness
- Occupational Therapy
is available in both inpatient and outpatient
services.
- SACH's
OT department consist
of a full-time Registered Occupational Therapist
(OTR/L) and a full-time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
(COTA/L).

Care Unit
- Intensive Care Unit
- Transitional
Care Unit
- Geriatric Psychiatry Unit

The major
population is mid to older adults who experience health
problems such as heart attacks, strokes, hip fractures,
respiratory disorders, and generalized weakness due
to a recent illness or surgery.
The OTR will evaluate
a person to determine what dysfunction is occurring
and how best to assist them in regaining their lost
abilities.
Treatment often consists of:
- self-care
tasks
- standing balance
- transfers in/out
bed/tub
- simple homemaking
- endurance & strengthening
- caregiver
training
- home assessment
- adaptive
equipment
Outpatient OT Services:
Outpatient
Occupational Therapy services are now available at SACH
in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Center.
A wide range of OT services is provided to meet the
needs of a variety of illness and injury concerns including:Not
